Embracing the Shift from Winter to Spring: Rest, Renewal, and New Beginnings

As the seasons begin to change, I’ve been feeling that familiar surge of inspiration—ideas blooming, creative energy stirring, and the desire to take action. Spring holds the promise of new beginnings, of shaking off the heaviness of winter and stepping into growth.

And just when I was ready to move forward with new projects and fresh energy… I got sick.

For two weeks, my body forced me to slow down. I had to sit with the disappointment of cancelled plans and missed opportunities. I felt isolated and lonely and I felt frustrated—held back from my motivation and momentum.

But the lesson was clear: slow down.

What Does Being Sick Teach Us?

Being sick is humbling. It reminded me—again—that I am human, with limits. And wow, that’s hard to accept in a world that demands we operate at full capacity all. the. time. There’s an expectation to always be on, always producing, always moving forward. But my body had other plans.

So I surrendered.

I let myself rest. I took naps—two a day, if needed. I nourished myself with broths, electrolytes, elderberry, oil of oregano, and all the immune-supporting things. And most importantly, I accepted that healing takes time.

This experience brought me back to the basics: rest and nourishment are not extras—they are the foundation. When we don’t allow ourselves to slow down and restore, everything else eventually suffers.

Moving Into Spring With a New Perspective

Now that my energy is returning, I feel different. Yes, I feel creative and inspired, but I also feel a deeper sense of trust. Spring isn’t just about rushing forward—it’s about emergence. And emergence happens at its own pace.

Nature doesn’t force flowers to bloom before they’re ready. The transition is gradual, and there’s wisdom in allowing that process to unfold naturally.

So instead of diving headfirst into spring with urgency, I’m embracing it with curiosity. I’m listening to my body. I’m letting myself feel open to whatever this season has in store—without forcing anything.

Questions for Reflection

As we step into this new season, I invite you to check in with yourself:

🌿 What does your body need right now?
🌿 Where can you soften and allow more rest, even in the midst of growth?
🌿 What feels ready to bloom within you?

As we step into this season of renewal, I invite you to deepen your connection to yourself through a practice of presence and embodiment. My Somatic Cacao Circle is a space to slow down, tune into your heart, and nourish your body and soul with the support of cacao medicine. Each gathering blends somatic practices like movement, breathwork, sound healing, and meditation.

✨ If you’re feeling called to rest, reconnect, and receive whatever this season has in store for you, I’d love for you to join me. Click here to learn more and reserve your spot!
